10 things you need to know about the Big Apple Browns Backers of NYC

2022 will be the 12th year for the Big Apple Browns Backers, the ONLY Cleveland Browns Backer location in New York City and arguably the rowdiest chapter in the entire country.

We’re a crazy bunch and like our CLE sports misery mixed with a healthy dose of alcohol and tomfoolery.

We’ve worked hard to build an amazing community of Cleveland fans living in NYC and pride ourselves on welcoming all Browns fans into our flock.

Visiting the Big Apple for the weekend? Cleveland-native that recently moved to NYC? Please JOIN US for one of our watch parties!

We’ve got a massive & gorgeous viewing site located at The Liberty bar, with lots food & drink specials and a dedicated wait-staff.

Here are the 10 Commandments of the Big Apple Browns Backers in NYC:

  1. We only show the Browns game.
  2. Be nice to your bartenders & wait-staff and remember to tip with appreciation.
  3. No reservations. First come, first seated. We believe in communal / lunch-room seating. Get friendly.
  4. Seating begins 90 minutes before kick-off (ie, 11:30 am for a 1pm game).
  5. This is our church: treat the bar, it’s staff and other fans with respect.
  6. NO FANS FROM TEAMS WE’RE PLAYING THAT WEEK! If for some stupid reason you’re rooting for our opponent, or wearing their gear, you will NOT BE PERMITTED to watch the game (this counts for any friends or significant others that Browns fans might bring).
  7. NO STEELERS FANS! They are strictly prohibited and will be mocked relentlessly.
  8. If you refuse a free shot by the Shot Penguin an angel loses its wings.
  9. Please be smart & safe.
  10. And most importantly, always remember: THIS IS OUR YEAR!

Big Apple Browns T-Shirts, Hoodies, Sweatshirts & Tanks: Buy Online!

Tshirts for Big Apple Browns Backers of NYC

For the first time ever, you can now buy our Big Apple Browns Backers t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts & tank-tops online!

We priced these shirts with as little margin as possible to keep them friendly on your wallet. Any profit we make will be donated to an animal rescue organization located here in New York City  — last season, we donated over $2,300, raised from the charity auction at our Jets welcome party.

Another reason for the move online is to ensure we’re being as safe as possible with the ongoing COVID-19 situation. No more digging through a box of t-shirts at the bar to find the right size & color. These items are printed-on-demand and shipped directly to you.

Right now, we’ve got a bunch of styles in various colors:

What are you waiting for? Buy them for yourself, your family or that special-someone you’re trying to trick into becoming a Brown’s fan.

Thank You For an Amazing Weekend of Browns Football in NYC

Many thanks to the 1,200+ Cleveland Browns fans who joined our tailgate party at MetLife Stadium before the Jets game on Monday Night Football.

One member of the Browns organization described it as “one of the largest Browns tailgates at a visiting stadium I’ve ever seen!”

An even bigger thank you to the GNATS Tailgaters from the Lake Front Airport in Cleveland who made the trip to NYC to help us co-host the tailgate. Without them, that amazing party wouldn’t have been possible.

Kudos to Larry and his Muni-Lot bus crew, who against all odds, managed to find a parking spot in mid-town Manhattan directly in front of the bar during our Welcome Party. If that isn’t divine intervention, we don’t know what is.

And a big shout-out to everyone who attended our Sunday night Welcome Party at our home bar, Brother Jimmy’s Murray Hill. Thank you to the entire staff at Bro J’s, who shut down their entire restaurant to accommodate our massive private party — you guys rock. Photos from that event are below.

Throughout the weekend, our events raised over $2,000 for a local pet adoption charity in NYC.

» Download individual photos from Google Drive

P.S. We’re still waiting for members of the Cleveland Browns ownership team to apologize for bailing on both our events. Don’t worry guys, we’ll be happy to install a new WIN FRIDGE stocked with not-Bud-Light in honor of your lack of attendance & support.
